Bill Turner was born in 1950 in Atlanta.  In 1974 he graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Journalism.

However, a photography class in the last year of school sparked a visual sense that continued through the years.

After a brief stint as associate editor/photographer at Georgia Life magazine, he began entering art shows, as a photographer, and received an award at his first exhibit at Piedmont Park in 1977.

He quickly began his career as an artist, exploring many types of photography and photographic imagery.  In 1982 he was featured in the book, "Time Life Photography Year 1982" and had a sellout show at the Charles Cowles gallery in New York City.  After that, he began using paint more and more on his photos, and by 1990 started painting almost exclusively.

His work is included in the collections of Coca Cola USA, Chase Manhattan Bank, Columbus Museum, Mobile Museum, and personal collections all over the country.

One of his favorite quotes about art is from Joseph Campbell:   "The artist's function is the mythologizing of the environment and the world.”
