I find looking at the ordinary to be extraordinary. Painting allows me to more fully connect to this mystery by exploring the colors, textures, and forms I see and to indulge in the sensuality of the paint itself. The paint dictates the direction the image will take. I choose my subjects by looking for things I care about. I prefer everyday subjects because they are unpretentious and touch me in a way that can describe our human existence.
