Originally trained as an architect in Ukraine, Newnan artist Yana Pidorvan brings a distinctive eye for history, form, and detail to everything she creates. After moving to Georgia more than a decade ago, she fell in love with the character of Southern architecture and the romantic qualities of Victorian and shabby-chic design.
At the heart of Yana’s work is a passion for transformation. She repurposes broken, forgotten, and heirloom objects, giving them new life as jewelry, greeting cards, ornaments, and small works for the home. Each piece is composed individually, allowing the history and personality of its materials to help shape the finished work. Even when she begins with similar components, Yana finds a way to ensure that no two creations are exactly alike.
Collaboration also plays an important role in her practice. Yana enjoys working with other artists and finding unexpected ways to reinterpret their paintings or urban sketches as wearable art. The result is work that feels nostalgic yet newly imagined, preserving something meaningful from the past while inviting it into a new story.
