Paintings - Oils
Kathaleen Brewer is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist whose creative practice is fueled by curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Her first gallery exhibitions, held in California during the 1980s, featured black-and-white photography, manipulated Polaroids, and pastels. Today, she works primarily in oils and pastels while also creating with polymer clay and exploring other forms of artistic expression.
Kathaleen’s paintings include colorful Georgia marshes, familiar Southern scenes, and landscapes inspired by her travels. Through expressive color, light, and atmosphere, she captures more than the appearance of a place; she preserves the feeling and character of a particular moment.
Since moving to Georgia from California, Kathaleen has become a deeply rooted and influential member of the Fayette County arts community. Over the years, she has helped create opportunities for local artists to exhibit, learn, and connect with one another. As an artist, teacher, organizer, and arts advocate, she has played an important role in encouraging creativity throughout the community. She continues to paint and teach from her home studio, helping students develop their skills and discover their own creative voices.
Visitors to K. Brewer Studio will find paintings, works in progress, art materials, and evidence of an artist who is always exploring. Kathaleen’s studio offers a revealing look at how observation, experience, and experimentation come together to inspire original art.
