Bill Turner Studio

712 Walt Carmichael Rd, Newnan, GA 30263, USA

Paintings - Oils

Bill Turner began his creative career as a photographer after earning a degree in journalism from the University of Georgia. His early work included black-and-white photographs enhanced with hand-applied oil color—an unusual approach at the time. His photography was exhibited nationally, and one of his images was featured in Time-Life’s Photo Year 1982.

By 1990, Bill had moved the oil paint from his photographs to canvas and began teaching himself to paint. Roads soon emerged as a recurring element in his landscapes. For Bill, a road is more than part of the scenery—it is an invitation into the painting, carrying the viewer toward an imagined destination and allowing each person to bring a different story to the journey.

Bill’s paintings and photographs have appeared in exhibitions throughout the United States and are included in museum and corporate collections. During the Southern Hands Artist Studio Tour, visitors can meet Bill, learn more about his evolution from photographer to painter and discover landscapes that transform familiar surroundings into places of reflection and possibility.
