New to this year’s SHASTour are 4 emerging artists who have shown great artistic talent in their young careers.  These artists show an amazing level of depth and dedication to their creative pursuits and all have a fresh perspective shown in their art.  Each emerging artist is hosted by an established studio artist.

Our first emerging artist is Airyona Ayala, a teacher and painter.  Airyona is currently a teacher in the Carrollton Co. school system and she and her family reside in Newnan, GA.  She has an expressive painting style that combines broad soft subtle color bands balanced with flowing line drawings.
Her work often sweeps across multiple canvases in a beautiful movement of color and lines.  She states “I paint florals, botanicals, and images of wildlife to symbolize my love for the beauty of nature. I also create abstracts with moving lines and dripping textures to symbolize the fleeting moments of joy in my life.”
Airyona Ayala will be hosted in the studio of artist Sherry Cook in Roscoe, GA northwest of Newnan.

Glass has been a passion of emerging artist Alejandro Gallo since his first classes with glass artist Robert Mickelsen.  He currently resides in Kennesaw, GA although his hometown is Fayetteville.  Alejandro works with glass tubing to create beautiful goblets, necklace pendants, pipes and bottles.
His work is very refined and reminiscent of the Murano glass artists of Italy.  Alejandro describes his work by saying, “Finding glass as one of my passions has been both a blessing and a curse. It has consumed my mind, like when you first fell in love and It's the only thing your mind can think of from the moment you wake up to the moment you close your eyes goodnight. “
Alejandro Gallo will be hosted in the studio of ceramic artist Jennifer Stott near Lake Horton in Woolsey, GA.  Well worth the trip!

A young potter, Audrey Stamps, is another emerging artist on this year’s tour.  Audrey is a graphic artist and web designer for a firm in Atlanta, GA and resides in Marietta.  She established her own studio in 2017 called Audball Pottery and has been a guest potter at Mark of the Potter in Clarksville, GA.  She has a unique and instantly
rustic style on her pieces, often carving and applying stamped designs into her work.  Her ‘Queen Bee’ series are made of Georgia made clay and a glaze finish dripping like honey down the sides.  She says “ My pottery will take you back to the wild.  Back to the more primal part of yourselves.  All my pieces are inspired by the Appalachian mountains where the clay was birthed and each one contains some form of raw clay locally sourced and made in Georgia.”
Audrey Stamps will be hosted in the studio of family member and potter Suzanne Kleese-Stamps in Sharpsburg, GA near Peachtree City.

Our final emerging artist, Hunter Wells, is a young and vibrant painter who joins us from North Carolina.  Hunter is a native Newnan, GA resident who traveled to Oahu, HI to complete her degree in Humanities and Art History and currently lives in Kernersville, NC.  Hunter’s work is heavily influenced by the sea life of the islands and her chiaroscuro painting style makes her images virtually glow on the canvas!
The diversity and magic of the Hawaiian Islands captured her soul and their beauty continues to influence her work. We think that tour visitors will be equally captured and drawn in by her art!
Hunter Wells will be a hosted with studio artist and painting instructor Chelita Freeman at the new Ashley Park tour stop in Newnan, GA.
