I attended the Art and Music school at Georgia State University and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts. The 70’s was a great era for art and I was able to study with some incredibly motivating professors in a wide range of media from photography to ceramics and oil painting. My degree and senior thesis was in Weaving and Textile Arts.
I started with private lessons at the age of 10- not willing to take piano lessons like everyone else my age. After college, I competed in juried art shows in the Atlanta area and Florida and worked doing commissioned pieces for clients such as HBO and the Prudential Life Insurance headquarters in Atlanta. Finding that artwork could not pay all the bills I went to work in retail management until I took disability and retired in 2015.
My jewelry items are constructed with natural, semi precious stones, lamp work glass beads, and Swarovski crystals with combinations of textures and colors to enhance the colorful inner self.
My recent focus has been on developing a series of jewelry that reflect the seasons and nature. Finding components and developing a series of Wildlife, Floral, and Butterfly jewelry has been an exciting endeavor and is constantly evolving into new ideas and designs.
During the Fall and Winter months I make hand crafted scarves, wreaths, angel ornaments, and mailbox covers for the season’s festivities. My weaving training brings me home when I pull out the knitting needles and create scarves and hats that focus on comfort and warmth knitted with a unique combination of luxuriously colored soft supple yarns.
Since retiring and surviving T4 cancer I have devoted myself to giving to others who are facing what I have gone through. I had my family to support me 100%, but many have no one and hope is dim. I have joined a group “Brighter Lipstick and Bigger Earrings”. We make earrings for ladies who are enduring chemotherapy and have lost their hair and with it their spirit. The earrings are there to cheer them, totally free of charge, just take them and wear them to help your courage soar. I am constantly looking for volunteers to help make the 70-100 pairs of earrings a month that I supply to Emory Winship Center at the University. I would love to supply other locations if I had some helping hands! (I will teach you how to make them).

That is my street, Hunters Glen. You will find 180 about 9 houses down on the left. You can park in the driveway or on the street. Enter through carport.
