Katie Turner (United States, b.1992) received her BFA in painting and sculpture from Loyola University New Orleans in 2014. Katie, born in Atlanta, grew up in rural Georgia on a lake in the woods. As the daughter of artists, she spent her adolescence painting, building and creating within a creative environment. Her upbringing within nature and the south as well as her years spent in New Orleans and New York City have influenced and shaped her work. Katie incorporates a playful use of color with found objects to create whimsical works which posses a history and narrative. She primarily explores themes of home, kitsch, nostalgia, and collection.BIO
