Since I was 19 years old, the clay has called my name in much the same way that God has. From the beginning, I was fascinated with the history of ceramics, and continue to draw from it today, 25 years later.  The pots of Korea,  China, Japan, Persia and the Middle East are a continual source of inspiration, yet I feel it is important to create in my own voice, a voice of these times. I love making functional pottery, because I have deeply felt spiritual beliefs about life and our need for beauty as a sustenance for our souls.  It is interesting to me that the mundane rituals of eating and drinking which sustains our bodies can also be sustaining to our soul through beautiful objects of service.

I received a BFA in ceramics from the University of Central Florida in 2006, however I feel that very little of that mattered compared to the education I have received from working for and with a multitude of professional artists, nationally and internationally known. After teaching high school level printmaking and 3-dimensional craft in the Caribbean  for 6 years I returned to the USA when I met my wife.  We renovated a house and built a studio in 2015. Since October of 2016, I have been making pottery again with more passion than ever before.

During the studio tour

During the show, I will be working in my studio and answering any questions people may have. We will have some light refreshments.
