R. David Boyd, Sr. AKA "Old Boyd"
David Boyd, Sr grew up in Washington, Georgia and attended The Citadel. He served in the U.S. Army and came to Newnan, Georgia in 1965 to run the local Chamber of Commerce.
He is a longtime political cartoonist, illustrator, sculptor, and prominent resident of Newnan. Boyd's work has appeared in the Newnan Times-Herald editorial page and elsewhere for over three decades. He also created comics called Apple Pie and The Sovereign State of Affairs with his partner, Gus Wood, an attorney. Their work was syndicated by Mark-Morgan Inc. of Atlanta.
In addition to his long career as a political cartoonist, Boyd has illustrated sixteen books written by redneck humorist Jeff Foxworthy as well as e-cards, t-shirts, and calendars. He sculpted a line of figurines called Foxworthy Folks. Boyd also illustrated books written by the late humorist Lewis Grizzard.
Boyd is semi-retired and lives in Newnan with his wife, Rosalyn. They have two daughters and a son, David Boyd Jr., who is also an artist in Newnan.

From 85, get off at the Newnan exit, onto Bullsboro (right if coming from Atlanta and left if coming from Columbus) Bullsboro turns into Jackson Street stay in the left lane. Turn left staying on Jefferson St. Go about 1/8 mile and turn left on Madison street and go 2 blocks and turn right on Perry Street. The gallery is in the corner of Perry and E. Washington and public parking is on the left.
